RugMarkTM has now become GoodWeaveTM. GoodWeaveTM will have the same meaning as the RugMarkTM label: a deep commitment to:
* the deterrence of child labor;
* the education and rehabilitation of rescued child workers in the carpet industry;
* the families and communities of more than 3,200 children in India and Nepal that we actively serve.
Both the existing RugMarkTM label and the new GoodWeaveTM label assure that no children under age 14 were employed by the facility responsible for making the labeled rug.
In addition, GoodWeaveTM will, in time, represent an enhanced set of values that places the RugMarkTM mission in a broader context of environmental and social responsibility. Through a new set of standards under development, GoodWeaveTM label directives will be more rigorous, transparent and defined, and with input from a multi-stakeholder standards committee. For guidance in this effort, RMI is an associate member of the International Social and Environmental Accreditation and Labeling Alliance (ISEAL), a global leader in setting norms and best practices for certification. The RugMarkTM International website will make policies and procedures available to any interested party and facilitate comment on standard-setting.
GoodWeaveTM is a global nonprofit organization working to end illegal child labor and offer educational opportunities for children in India, Nepal and Pakistan.
Our rugs are hand-knotted in Nepal using 100% Tibetan wool - simply the finest wool in the world.
High quality, hand-knotted wool carpets is a centuries old art form in Nepal and has become its major industry. Each rug is individually marked with the RUGMARK certification that ensures that no child labor is used in the production process.

- A portion of the price helps to pay for the rehabilitation and education of former child weavers;
- You are helping to raise awareness about the disturbing problem of child labor in the carpet industry;
- You are letting carpet retailers know that you will not purchase carpets made by children;
- The loom on which your carpet was made is registered with GoodWeaveTM
;
- GoodWeaveTM inspectors have open access to the factory or loom where your carpet was produced.
You can trace the origin of your carpet -- all the way back to the loom -- by providing GoodWeaveTM with the certification number on the label adhered to the back of your carpet.
