Nordland Pattern

The Nordland pattern or design originated in Northern Norway. It actually means North Land. This design was created in the 1800’s. In the past, Scandinavian textile patterns were often named after the “first place” where they were woven, rather than by the first person to weave or create them. Therefore this pattern’s name is Nordland. Nordland design runners are made of linen and wool using the skilbragd weaving technique. The linen is the most prominent which creates the off white background that features a wool design.

Color # 2 - Off white linen background with varied shades of blue colors wool design.
Color # 3 - Off white linen background w/ varied mauve colors wool design.
Color # 4 – Off white linen background with olive green, medium brown and rust colored wool design.
Color #5 - Off white linen background with one shade of blue color wool design.

Please Note:

• All textiles are hand woven, therefore sizes do vary a bit.
• The iron wall hanger shown on wall hangings is included in the price.
• Many textiles are special order and will be made in Norway. It is hard to say exactly how long this could take. It could possibly vary from 2 months to 6 months. All textiles are hand woven and it is a very time consuming process.

Note on the care of your weaving: Contents are linen and wool, so your textile should be dry-cleaned. When your textile is not in use and you are storing it, please do not fold it. This is very hard on the fibers. It is best to roll it around a tube (old paper towel or wrapping paper tube is perfect).
