Double Weave

Double Weave Woman These textiles are woven using a very special and difficult weaving technique called Flensvev, also known as Double Weave. The fiber content is 100% Norwegian wool. Using this special weaving technique or process actually creates two woven pieces of fabric that are woven together. This also creates a wall hanging with opposite colors on the front and back sides. While there is one “official” side, you could choose to display it with either side out since both sides look perfect – just reversed in color. Please note that we will use the word BLACK for the color but this wool color is actually a Super dark brown that looks black in these textiles.

Color # 1 is a BLACK background with a Red woven design
Color # 2 is a BLACK background with a Red and Gold design
Color # 3 is a BLACK background with a very light Gray (almost white) woven design
Color # 4 is a BLACK background with a Burgundy and Gold woven design

Please Note:

All textiles are hand woven so they are unique and will vary a bit. This only adds to their charm.
Sizes should be considered approximate and include the fringes.
Prices shown include the iron hangers that are used for hanging and displaying your textile. We do not sell the iron hanger separately.
Textiles are special order and will be made in Norway. It is hard to say exactly how long this could take. It could possibly vary from 2 months to 6 months. All textiles are hand woven and it is a very time consuming process.

Note on the care of your weaving: Contents are 100% wool, so your textile should be dry-cleaned. When your textile is not in use and you are storing it, please do not fold it. This is very hard on the fibers. It is best to roll it around a tube (old paper towel or wrapping paper tube is perfect).
