About Nordic Home Interiors

Nordic Home Interiors was founded in August 2001 after several years of operation, doing business as Nordic Business Development, Inc. Sherpa Himalayan Imports and Namaste Textiles.

The Founders are Orlyn and Marit Andol Kringstad of Edina, Minnesota. Orlyn's background includes six years living and working in Norway from 1972 to 1978 during Norway’s early “IT” years, serving as Data Center Manager for a large building products firm, and twelve years as Chief Fraternal Officer for the fraternal benefits insurance organization Sons of Norway. With most of his extended family in Norway, and his long association with business in Norway, the transition to export/import between Norway was not unusual.

Marit spent numerous childhood summers in Norway visiting her grandparents and large extended family. She attended Augustana College in South Dakota and participated in the HECUA program at the University of Oslo, fall/winter of 78/79. Her earlier professional career has been devoted to children. Marit is a licensed Social Worker and has served in various positions including director of Social Services for 15 years at Plymouth Christian Youth Center in North Minneapolis.

Marit’s deep Norwegian roots, along with her many Norwegian experiences and commitment to children made her transition into the Rugmark® project with Nordic Textiles and Furnishing a natural.

Nordic Home Interiors is an importer of high quality home furnishings and interiors, custom designed with a Nordic touch. Products include Nordic country-style furniture, accent accessories, woven wall hangings, and hand-knotted rugs with traditional designs. These fine products are all handcrafted in Norway with the exception of the hand custom rugs, which are made in Nepal.
